Forever Bound

Today is Saturday, and while I haven’t totally kept up with short-story Saturday I do have something written that I would like to share. This is a poem I wrote for John. I started writing it a month or two ago, and finally the rest of it came together, just in time for Valentine’s Day! This isn’t a rhyme scheme I normally go with, but I feel like each pair of lines really upholds the overall meaning. Each time I read it I find new things that really hold a deeper meaning than I even intended originally. I am excited to share, I hope you all like it!

Two souls now one, true love is found
Your heart and mine forever bound
Through the darkness into light
Love eternal takes its flight
Soaring through clouds overhead
Layers pulled and egos shed
A love like ours is rare to find
My heart and yours a lasting bind
You are the moon, and I the sun
In dark and light, two souls now one
I see into deep waters still
Waves of feelings crest and spill
Among the waves I am a stone
Obsidian black, reflections shone
See yourself as I see you
Even when our hearts are two
I am the shell and you the sea
What do you see inside me?
A light like ours forever shines
Brightly transcending all time
When thunder strikes at stormy seas
Through painful whispered memories
The moonlight dances as you laugh
And clear the clouds from the sun’s path
When silence is the only sound
Two souls, now one forever bound
